Common Name: Lavender 40 / 42 Essential Oil

Lavender 40/42 is a blend of lavender oils that contains a specific ratio of linalyl acetate(42%) and  linalool (40%), the two main aromatic compounds in Lavender

Botanical Name: Lavandula angustifolia 

Synonyms: True lavender, common lavender, English lavender, Lavandula officinalis Chaix, Lavandula vera DC

Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae) 

There are approximately 30 species of lavender grown around the world. Each species has its own chemical compound profile and associated characteristics. Always make sure you know which species / growing location you are using and that it contains the properties you wish to utilize. 

Four main species of lavender are:

  • Lavendula augustifolia – true lavender
  • Lavandul latifolia – spike lavender
  • Lavandula x intermedia – lavandin
  • Lavandula stochas – maritime lavender 

Chemical Composition includes – varies considerably between growing locations.

Linalyl acetate @ 33 - 46%

Linalool @ 30-045%

Precautions / Contraindications

Caution during pregnancy - known uterine stimulator 

No known contradictions

Considered non-toxic, non-irritant, non sensitizing 

GRAS 

Suggestions Lavender is a hormonal risk with young boys have been unfounded

Known in Japan as a high-risk skin sensitizer – unfounded   

As with all essential oils, taking internally, ingesting or adding to food / beverages is not recommended and can cause harm. 

Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children, lids secured in a cool dark location.
